Kentucky Woman
Sally Jane was a pioneer girl,
Who lived on the Texas plane.
Her days were filled with sunshine,
But her heart was full of pain.
Her house was a new log cabin,
Yet her home was far away
On a hillside in Kentucky,
Where sweet Sally used to play.
Sally Jane was a loyal wife,
And she always done her best
To cope with the western life style,
And the hardships of the West.
Her Tom, a tall and burley man,
Enjoyed the frontier life.
He considered it a challenge,
But young Tom loved his wife.
Tom sympathized with Sally Jane,
And he whispered in her ear,
"We’re going back to Kentucky,
To the folks you love so dear.
We’ll say good-bye to pioneer life,
To the homestead on the plain;
You can say good-bye to heartaches,
For Tom loves his Sally Jane."
