A Lofty Prize

An earthy vessel made of clay,

This lowly human race;

Subjected to vanity,

An act of divine grace.

So helplessly enslaved to sin,

And his perplexing need.

His mind a fertile garden,

Where Life must grow His seed.

Blinded by a lustful eye,

Man fails to see the scope

Of destiny’s magnitude,

The sight he needs to cope.

Subjected to this vanity,

That he may run this race

To win his crown of glory,

Man must participate.

Mercy put an earnest down,

An insight of His plan,

Revealed the throne before him,

The destiny of man.

Love set the plan in action,

And love will see it through,

And reconcile creation,

By making all things new.

A creature of earth’s substance,

Unto His child, a son,

A seed to bear His image,

The prize, his faith has won.
