 Before

This story is really yours and mine,

But it goes back before our time;

Before the day that time began,

Before there was a sea or land.

Before rebellion, before sin,

Even before life began;

Before the light began to shine,

It was before the dawn of time.

Before there was a sob or tear,

Or anything at all to fear;

Before the wind began to blow,

Or there had ever been a snow.

Before Yah said, "Let there be light,

When everything was black as night;

Before a book was ever read,

Or one word was ever said.

Before Adam, before Eve,

Before the serpent did deceive;

Before a prayer was ever prayed,

Or earth's foundation had been laid.

Yah conceived a wondrous plan,

That in His image He'd make man,

And isn't it a marvelous thing,

That He chose man to be the king?
