Harness of the Lord

I awake each new day to find

A burden that’s not truly mine.

I’m always tempted to complain,

And in my mind I would refrain.

I see a cross and blood-stained robe,

And see the man that bare that load.

Remorseful, my heart swells with pride,

For love of me, a King has died.

From heaven’s glorious harmony,

My Savior gladly came for me,

Into a world of sin and shame,

To share my misery and my pain.

He did not say I will not go

To bear her ugly sin and woe.

If he had chosen this to say,

Where would this sinner be today.

With gratitude I harness in ,

And gladly bear another’s sin.

On my face I fix a smile,

By grace I go another mile.
