Guiding Light

What makes the church grow and thrive

With its foundation strong?

What gives her strength to withstand foes,

And actions that are wrong?

What gives the church enduring strength,

With morals pure and high?

How can she never fail those souls,

That on her must rely?

Is it hard work? It cannot be.

Look back at days gone by,

When in Babylon, they once toiled

To make their temple reach the sky.

How many follows Nimrod's creed,

Or honor him today?

Yah made that temple crumble,

And it now lies in decay.

Is it power like Rome once had,

When she ruled with sword and chain,

And forced the world to bow to her?

Can she renew her claim?

What is the magic secret then,

The doorway to success?

The Spirit came to lead us;

The church will stand time's test.

But we must await instructions,

And make sure to follow through.

With a still quiet voice he'll guide us,

He will show us what to do.

Then come what may, the church will stand,

With her foundations strong;

With a beauty and a brilliance

That she has never known.
