Reaching Upward

I seek to please my Master,

And find His will for me,

To rise unto the fullness

Of all that I should be.

A deeper depth my soul desires

To dwell in Him each day;

Yielding to His perfect will,

And holding mine at bay.

I know I cannot reach my goal;

His face I cannot see,

Until I know and mortify

The self that lives in me.
