The Rejected Monarch
Of our Dear Savior, it was said,
"He had no place to lay his head."
Yet, little sparrows have a nest
Where each can find a place of rest.
And foxes have a hide-away
That gives protection from their prey.
Christ chose the lonely path he tread;
The hills and deserts were his bed.
The Father sent him to his own,
Yet, in their midst he walked alone.
He had no one with whom to share;
No one supported him in prayer.
He came to heal, and feed and bless;
In all His ways he did no less.
From stable to Golgotha’s hill,
He only sought the Father’s will.
Though he had come to bear their sin,
Men’s confidence he could not win.
Those he loved and blessed each day,
For fear denied and turned away.
If we had been there when he died,
Would we have also turned aside?
Let us pray for strength and power,
To witness for him, in this hour.
