Garden of the Lord

I must forever guard my mind

Against the voice of dark despair,

And never allow bad thoughts to enter

Into my mind, and take root there.

If should ever sow the bad seeds

That bears the fruit of doubt and fear,

It will clutter up my garden

And the good seed will not bear.

If in my heart the fruit is bitter,

Bitter fruit I then must eat,

And there will be no sweet communion

When, with my fellowman I meet.

So send the angel with the sword,

And let Him guard my garden gate;

Keeping out the doubts and fear, Lord,

Along with prejudice, and hate.
