Democracy

Democracy, Democracy!

The world did reverend thee.

And fled to your pavilion,

And to your rare integrity.

Adorned in royal purple,

Your endowment was complete;

Crowned with the jeweled diadem,

With kingdoms at your feet.

Nations stood and gaped in awe,

Dependent on your granary.

You gracefully offered them your hand,

In your quiet complacency.

But the sons in whom you took such pride,

Catered to their lust and greed.

Became victims of their folly,

Corrupt in every thought and deed.

Yah's laws were soon forgotten,

And from Him they turned away.

They stole your precious diadem,

And the glory of that day.

Your beauty lies in ashes now;

Your children in the street

Cry for peace and safety,

And a sheltered place to sleep.

Democracy, the loveliest one,

We weep in sympathy;

As a bride comes from her closet,

So radiantly, came thee.

Adorned with elegance and beauty,

The fairest of them all.

Democracy, Democracy,

Their schemes have caused your fall.
