The children came by awhile today;

Helen called just to say hello.

Andrew called to say he got promoted;

Nancy’s been out skiing in the snow.

Got lard enough to last till fall, I hope.

Old Flossy had her calf; it was a heifer.

Frank was caught stealing Pa’s tobacco.

Old Yeller had her pups; she had four.

Always getting mud tracked on my floor.

Mercy, I get lonely here sometimes.

Everyone is doing their own thing,

Racing in and out chasing rainbows;

I’m just awfully glad it’ll soon be spring.

Can’t say that I should be complaining, this all I really ought to say

About living in the blessed land of freedom, thank God for good old USA.
